OPEN CALL – Dubulti Writers’ Residence

Dubulti Writers’ Residence is the oldest writers’ residence in Latvia. It is located in the centre of the Jūrmala resort – in a picturesque and legendary area – next to the path along which the great Latvian poet Aspazija used to walk to the sea every day, drawing inspiration for her work.
Dubulti Writers’ Residence is a quiet and comfortable place. Residents have separate one-room and two-room apartments with all amenities and free Wi-Fi. The residence has a kitchen equipped with refrigerators, washing machines and all the necessary appliances for cooking.

This is an ideal spot for creative work, walks along the seashore and bike rides. You can park your car in the residence’s courtyard behind a drop-down barrier.

Recently, the building has been renovated and partially refurbished thus improving the comfort and living conditions of residents.

In 2025, the Latvian Writers’ Union (LWU) offers lodging to its members (poets, prose writers, playwrights, critics, literary scholars, translators of prose and poetry), as well as to authors of all writing professions who carry out their work in “quiet mode” (art scholars, curators, critics of various fields, screenwriters, musicologists, composers, etc.).

In 2025, Dubulti Writers’ Residence will be open from April 14 to October 31. Applications for the apartments are open until February 28, 2025. After this date, the LWU cannot guarantee work opportunities in the residence.
